Look today unveiled its latest generation of Keo Blade pedals. French manufacturer Look introduced the Keo model in 2011, and this pedal system has been around ever since. The latest model (to date) is featured in our Best Road Pedals guide.
The Keo Blade comes in three new models, which are outlined below. The regular Keo Blade, the Keo Blade Ceramic with ceramic bearings, and the top-of-the-line Ceramic-Titanium option with ceramic bearings and upgraded titanium axles.
Look claims that the new Keo Blade pedals are the fastest ever and were developed over three years with World Tour performance specialists and with input from pro riders from four different team members.
The brand claims that the new pedals feature a new pedal body profile that is more aerodynamic, with a lower front and new leading edge aero profile to reduce drag. It claims a 2% reduction in aerodynamic drag compared to the previous Keo Blade.
What else is new besides the new aero profile' According to the brand, the new Keo Blade is 60% easier to clip in due to improved weight balance. The pedals also feature a new spindle design, dual shielded bearings, and modified water-resistant grease. The enhanced new body shape is said to improve robustness and impact resistance by a whopping 200%.
The name Keo Blade comes from the pedal's carbon blade used to customize the stiffness of the clip-in retention. Look claims that this technology is 20% lighter than the standard metal spring system used by other pedals.
The blade inserts are interchangeable, allowing riders to set their preferred tension.
Weight and stack height are similar to the current model. This appears to be an update to produce a more aerodynamically efficient pedal and to improve durability.
