NCL Cup Announces 10-Team Lineup for Second Year of Innovative U.S. Series

The Miami Knights and Denver Disruptors lead a 10-team co-ed team that has received an invitation to the second season of the NCL Cup Series, a points-based criterium-style race for men and women owned and operated by the National Cycling League.

The Miami Knights won the inaugural three-competition series in 2023, and the Denver Disruptors finished second overall with a massive points lead over third-place Goldman Sachs ETFs Racing (women) and Texas Roadhouse Cycling (men). Also new to the NCL franchise was Atlanta Rise. With the Roxo Racing name change, the women's Boneshaker p/b Orange Seal will again be paired with Voler Factory Racing p/b Schnurr Racing. [CCB p/b Levin Law Group (women) and Foundation Cycling (men) were the only combo teams to finish in the top five and score over 100 points combined, with the women's team accounting for the majority of the scoring.

"After a season of getting a feel for the unique new format in 2023, we are eager to compete in the 2024 NCL Cup Series," said Lauren LeClair, CCB p/b Levine Law Group sports director, "Men's and women's competition are equally in the spotlight, it is important for us to partner with an event that puts them in the same spotlight.

." This series is the perfect complement to our race calendar to support the development of our athletes and put them in race situations that require lightning-fast decisions on the road that result in fun and exciting competition."

An event calendar may have been provided to the 10 teams, but as of today's press release from the NCL, no schedule has been released. Last year's NCL Cup series began with four events in Miami Beach, Florida, in April. After the Washington, D.C. event was dropped, the last two events were held in Denver, Colorado, and Atlanta, Georgia, over the August holidays, and since the NCL owns teams in the three cities where the NCL Cup Series was held last year, it is expected that the 2024 calendar will be held in the same cities

The NCL has teams in three cities that hosted the NCL Cup series last year.

The NCL Cup Series uses an innovative cycling format, with each event consisting of three segments. Each race consists of a qualifier to determine the starting grid and approximately 30 laps for the women and men. Midway substitutions are allowed, and winners are determined by points earned for laps completed, not by the last rider to cross the finish line. All races are sanctioned by USA Cycling.

Last season, there was $30,000 in prize money available for each of the three series races. All 10 teams in the overall standings received $130,000, with Miami Knight receiving $45,000 as the NCL Cup champion and the seventh through tenth place teams each receiving $5,000.

"Voler Factory Racing is excited to announce its return to the NCL Cup for the upcoming 2024 season, as the NCL's commitment to team hospitality and its economic structure highlights the progressive approach of the NCL,"

Schnurr Racing has a partnership with women's team Roxo Racing, which finished eighth overall last year.
