Mid-January is the traditional weekend for cyclocross national championships across Europe, and this weekend saw a number of winners from Austria to Switzerland.
In Belgium, Eli Iserbyt took an impressive first win in the elite men's title race, beating Joran Wyseure and teammate Michael Vanthourenhout in the thick mud of Meulebeke.
The day before, Sanne Canto extended her winning streak to 15 with a close win over Laura Verdonschot.
In the Netherlands, Lucinda Brandt effortlessly took the women's title despite a broken nose from last weekend's race in Sonnhofen.
Clément Venturini recovered from late mechanical problems to win the French men's title, and Hélène Clausel won her second consecutive title. [However, not all countries hold their championships on the same weekend. On the other hand, countries like Norway and Sweden held their championships early in the fall, before the worst of the winter weather.
