Lot Doustony Orbea's New Bike and Sponsor Announced in Video

In a press release that is heavy on symbolism and poetic language, Lot Destony announced what appears to be a new team bike for the 2024 season in partnership with Orbea, a prestigious Basque brand that is also a long-term sponsor of the Basque cycling team Euskatel Euskadi, and a new team bike for the 2024 season. The company unveiled what appears to be.

The release highlights the racing history of both brands, with Lotto having been in the peloton for 38 years and Orbea having built bikes for 183 years.

"Lotto Dstny finds in Orbea the ideal ally to continue to improve the performance of our entire organization. They are quick to adapt to new bikes and are always willing to continue working on their development. I am confident that together we can achieve great things," said Stéphane Oyraud, CEO of Lotto Dstny.

This all follows a rather high-profile situation in which a long-standing partnership with Ridley was terminated mid-contract and subsequently rebuffed by Ridley's CEO.

The official photos provided included only one vague teaser of the team bike, but there was also a link to a launch video showing Lotto's rising star Arnaud Des Rieres riding the bike with other riders, from which some of the bikes the team will run for the 2024 season could be assembled.

The only bike with multiple riders on both the men's and women's teams is the all-black Orbea Orca Aero, and Cyclingnews understands, thanks to leaked photos on social media, that the finished bike will be splashed with red and blue to match the team kit and we understand that.

It is an aero frame and therefore heavier, and the team is expected to also use the standard (lighter) Orbea Orca, which received an update in July.

The wheels seen in the video are from Orbea's eponymous subsidiary brand Oquo. While no official announcement has been made yet, thanks to photos shared at the team's recent training camp, Cycling News understands that the team will be sponsored by Zipp in 2024.

The tires are Vittoria Corsa Pro with black and tan sidewalls, and the drivetrain is mostly Shimano Dura-Ace, but the crankset is FSA. In other words, there is no Shimano power meter, but instead an FSA power box (made by Power2Max).

The cockpit, a mix of one-piece and two-piece, is supplied by Vision, and the saddle is by Serre Italia.
