Norwegian media outlet Landevei.no reported on Friday that Edvald Boasson Hagen may move to Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale.
Boasson Hagen, 36, is without a team for the 2024 season after Total Energy refused to renew his contract.
Boasson Hagen has been on the podium once in 2023, finishing third in the January one-day race, Classica Comunitat Valenciana 1969.
However, the Norwegian rider has 96 wins (23 at the World Tour level) in one-day races such as Gent-Wevelgem, Bretagne Classic/GP Ploué, and Vattenfall Cyclassics, and three stages in the Tour de France, 5 stages at the Criterium du Dauphiné, and 2 stages at the Tirreno-Adriatico.
Boasson Hagen began his professional career in 2008 with the former HTC Colombia team and moved to Team Sky in 2010, where he spent five seasons before moving to MTN Cubeca/Dimension Data. He then moved to MTN Cubeca/Dimension Data and raced for the team until 2020.
The French team announced in November that he would be leaving the team.
If true, Boasson Hagen would be the 30th rider on the Decathlon AG2R. There are approximately 24 World Tour riders still seeking contracts, and only six teams have confirmed that they have reached the maximum number of 30 riders for this season.
