Primos Roglis has signed a new contract agreement with Bora-Hansgrohe, according to a report by WielerFlits on Tuesday. The Slovenian has already confirmed his departure from Jumbo-Visma and has said details about his future contract will be revealed following Il Lombardia, held on 10/7.
"I can confirm with certainty that I will leave the team, but I want to tell you all the details after the race," Logric said from the Giro del Emilia last Saturday. "So, yes, first, I'm here to race. I will concentrate here and then make the next move."
Jumbo-Visma and Soudal-QuickStep are currently discussing the possibility of merging 2 WorldTour teams in 2024. Roglić is currently under contract with Jumbo-Visma until the end of next year, but he is heavily linked to the possibility of a move to a rival team following rumors of a merger.
Reports of Roglić's imminent contract with bora-Hansgrohe follow rumors that, among other teams, he could move to either Ineos Grenadiers, Lidl-Trek or Movistar.
Logric joined Jumbo-Visma in 2016, winning the Vuelta a España from 2019 to 2021 and winning the Giro d'Italia this year.3 According to WielerFlits, Rogliß is in discussions with Ralph Denk and his German WorldTour team, and they are close to signing a contract. However, the report also suggested that Jumbo-Visma will demand a payment of 300 million euros to terminate Rogliş's ongoing contract early.
The report also suggests that Rogic will target a victory in the Tour de France, a race in which he finished in 2020 edition in 2nd place overall. If Rogic joins Bora-Hansgrohe, he will likely share the leadership role of the Grand Tour with his new teammate and 2022 Giro d'Italia winner Jai Hindley.
According to reports, Roglić was also found at the Red Bull international headquarters in Austria. Energy Drink is rumored to be a long-time partner with Bora-Hansgrohe, at least in part funding Roglić's possible move to the team.
