It's official – Primoz Roglic sign with mullet - Hansgrohe

Primoš Rogliš officially signed with Bora-Hansgrohe and was announced at the team's press conference on Friday. According to team boss Ralph Denk, he will join the contract for "over 1 year" and lead a new team aiming for the Tour de France victory on May 7 next year.

Jumbo-Visma riders had previously confirmed that they would leave their current team before the Giro del Emilia last Saturday despite signing a contract until 2024.

The Dutch team will lose their title sponsor Jumbo at the end of next year and are considering merging with Soudal-Quickstep. It is reported that he is being held in a detention center in the city. During the discussion, Richard Plugge, the boss of Jumbo-Visma, confirmed that Roglić "gave the green light" to the team to terminate the contract prematurely.

Rumor has it that Roglich was linked to a number of teams, including Ineos Grenadier, Riddle Trek, Jaco Arula and Movistar. However, news emerged earlier this week that he was approaching a deal with Bora-Hansgrohe.

"Changing the team is like a new area for me, but I look forward to this step," Roglić said. "Good memories of when we met many years ago made the story simple," he said. But the decisive factor was that the team was really willing to work with me and that we had the same idea.

The team's boss, Ralph Denk, confirmed that the 33-year-old had signed a "more than a year" contract with the team on Thursday. He also pointed out that the deal was funded by savings made in the previous season and was not funded in any way by Red Bull, which contradicts some media reports.

Denk also confirmed that no more riders will sign up for the team as part of the Log Rich contract. His coach Marc Lamberts also plans to move from Jumbo-Visma to the German team, but the contract has not yet been confirmed.

"It's the next milestone for us after Peter Sagan's departure," Denk said. "He is one of the best riders in the world. He won almost every race of the 2023 season.

"We are proud that Primocci has made the decision to sign with us. I think it's a big boost for our entire team. At every meeting I went with him, he inspired me about different things. I am super happy to tell you this news."

The transfer to Bora-Hansgrohe is rumored to be subject to a €300 million acquisition fee for the Dutch team, while Roglić's contract (a reported 2-year contract) is worth €500 million per season.

Roglić will go from ski jumping to cycling in the outfit of Slovenian Adria Mobil. After the transition, I started my career at Jumbo-Visma in 2016. Since then he has been promoted to the Superstardom, winning three times in the Vuelta a España, the 2023 Giro d'Italia and finishing second in the 2020 Tour de France, as well as a monumental victory in Liege-Bastogne-Liege in 2020.

However, at this year's Vuelta, there seemed to be signs of discontent as Logric was forced to share the leadership with Jonas Vingegaard, the surprise candidate Sepp Kous, who rushed to the lead in stage 8.

During the race, Roglić seemed to question the team's decision to support Kuss. After the Queen stage to the Alto de Langril, away from the race leader, he said, "I have my own thoughts about it."

Rogic is unlikely to face the same level of leadership challenge at Bora Hansgrohe that left him second only to Vingegaard, the double tour winner at Jumbo Visma over the past few seasons.

Along with Rogic, the German team can count 2022 Giro d'Italia winner Jai Hindley, Vuelta breakout stars Sian Whytdebrooks and Alexander Vlasov as grand Tour contenders. However, with the Slovenians targeting the Tour de France next summer, they could be the key leaders of the Gc, with Tadej Pogañar, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel likely to face off for the first time in a rival team.
