UAE Team ADQ has announced that Cherie Pridham will oversee and lead the women's World Tour team for the 2024 season.
Pridham is considered a pioneer in the sport after becoming a Continental team and a start-up nation in Israel and more recently a Lotto-Dstny. Before that, Pridham was a professional cyclist for 15 years before a training accident in 2006 saw her switch to managing her career path.
She became the first woman to serve as directeur sportif on the Men's World Tour team and said, "My role is directeur sportif, not female directeur sportif."
She is currently in a more senior role in UAE team ADQ.
"Cherie Pridham's appointment is seamlessly aligned with UAE Team ADQ's core values and mission to create diverse leadership opportunities for women," said Melissa Moncada, President of Uae Team ADQ. "Her extensive experience promises to be a game changer not only for the women's cycling team, but also for the industry as a whole."
"Pridham's unique perspective is collected from during her tenure in men's professional cycling and infuses fresh insights and strategies into women's teams, boosting their performance to new heights."
Pridham looks forward to further supporting the development of women's cycling.
"By joining UAE Team ADQ, I am not embarking on a career change; I am embracing a great opportunity to contribute to the growth of women's cycling," she said.
"The team's dedication to women's cycling development is really exciting and I am keen on the journey ahead.”
