Dutch rider Mark Gronefeld dies aged 20

Mark Groeneveld, a Dutch racer on the XSpeed United Continental team in Canada, died at the age of 20 while in Hong Kong in the early hours of Monday, the team announced.

Groeneveld competed in Hong Kong Cyclothon (1.1) on Sunday but dropped out because of mechanical problems. According to a report by Noordhollands Dagblad, his death went well after the race. He collapsed while he was out in public and could not be resurrected.

The team said the cause of death is under investigation, but that cardiac arrest may be the cause.

"It's heart-wrenching to inform Mark Groeneveld of his passing during a project in Hong Kong," the team wrote on its Facebook page.クfacebook.com/Mark Groeneveld/2018/09/18 19:59:45
