Juan Ayuso is considering making his Tour de France debut in 2024

Juan Ayuso will make his debut at the 2024 Tour de France and will compete in the race next summer from 6/29 to 7/21 with his team・mate and 2・time champion Tadezi Poganyal.

"I just got back from Dubai with the team. It's about making my debut on the tour next year and seeing how it will be," Ayuso confirmed to the EFE News agency.

The 2024 Tour de France route was revealed on Wednesday. Pogagnard says the Tour de France will be his main target in 2024.

The 21・year・old Ayuso made 2 appearances in the Vuelta a España in 2022, finishing 3rd and 4th this year. He also finished 2nd in the Tour de Switzerland.

"Jumbo was better than anyone and was a fair winner of all of this season," Ayuso told the EFE ahead of the Madrid Criticium on Saturday.

"I just got back from Dubai with the team. It's about making my debut on the tour next year and seeing how it will be," said Pogagnard, adding that while leading the team at the Tour de France, he felt it was important to bring in multiple comprehensive contenders.

"[Poganyal] is currently number one and it's normal for him to go on tour [as leader], but as we've seen in the Vuelta, the smartest thing is some of them out there

In this year's Vuelta a España, Ayuso won the Young Rider classification, but he's not the only one. The winner Sepp Kus, runner-up Jonas Vingegaard and third-place Primo Logric's Jumbo Visma Trio finished in 4th overall.

Outside of the Tour de France, Ayuso said he also wanted to focus on the 2024 Olympics in Paris and the 2024 UCI Road World Championships in Zurich.

"Of course I want to participate in the Olympics and the World Championships, but that could be even better for me. What I want is to go well into the game so that the coach can take me, but I want to participate in both events."
