Polti returns to the sport after 17 years of success with Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, Richard Virenque, Ivan Gotti, and Mirko Celestino between 1994 and 2000, and will be the title sponsor of the 2024 Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador as title sponsors of the professional team.
The Italian brand of steam irons and cleaning products will sponsor the team on behalf of Eolo and Kometa, allowing team manager Ivan Basso to strengthen and internationalize the team's roster. Polti will also be the title sponsor of the U-23 and youth teams.
Polti is celebrating its 45th anniversary and has decided to return to a professional cycling team. Team details will be revealed in September, but the prominent Polti yellow, red, and green colors could return to the peloton.
Team Porti hopes to secure wildcard invitations to the 2024 Giro d'Italia and other major races throughout Europe as Porti continues its international expansion in Benelux, Germany, England, and Northern Europe.
Basso and Contador were looking for a new title sponsor to keep their project alive after Davide Bace's stage win at the Giro d'Italia.
"Not all sponsors are the same. Some sponsors give us new life and write exciting new chapters in our lives," Ivan Basso said when Porti confirmed that he had become a title sponsor and immediately began contacting rider agents and other partners to work on a new future.
." We are proud that the Porti family has entrusted us with the responsibility and honor of following in the footsteps of their past unforgettable moments in cycling history."
Alberto Contador founded the team with Basso and his brother Fran as he ended his own professional career in 2017.
"It's a great motivation, a three-year contract that will allow us to continue growing in the long term and already form a great team for 2024. We can work according to our philosophy, step by step, using our experience and values. I am confident we can show all this on the road," said the former Grand Tour winner.
"It is great news that a company with the tradition of Porti has returned to cycling and has faith in our project. It's nice to have a sponsor with a great tradition in pro cycling and a good track record wearing our team jersey."
Franco Porti developed the "Vaporella" household steam iron in 1978. Last summer, Francesca Porti was named the new president and CEO. Porti has been involved in other sports, including basketball, but will return to professional cycling in 2024.
"Porti's return to cycling aims to create a real synergy of values with a cycling team with projects that can express this vision and support Porti's goals as a company of evolution and renewal," Francesca Porti said.
"My father is very passionate about the sport and has always maintained a strong bond with the teams, coaches and riders. He values his experience and passion for cycling and is ready to support the team."[25
