2023 Tour de France, current GC standings after stage 18

Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) dashed Tadej Pogachar's hopes of a third overall win in a dramatic day.

Kasper Asgreen formed an escape group in Bourg-en-Bresse and narrowly held off the sprinters to give Soudal-Quick Step its first win of the competition.

Tadey Pogachar (UAE Team Emirates) held on to second place at 7:35 after a huge collapse on the Col de la Rose. Teammate Adam Yates is third in 10:45, blowing away the GC contenders in the third week of the Tour de France.

Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers) has opened a gap on Adam Yates and is fourth at 12:01. Simon Yates (Jayco Aroura), who joined the breakaway group on stage 17 and finished second in Courchevel, is also in fifth at 12:19.

Pero Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious) skillfully followed the maillot jaune and was one minute behind Jai Hindley (Bora-Hansgrohe) in sixth place (12:50 and 13:50 respectively).

Stage 17 winner Felix Gall (AG2R Citroën) continued his dream Tour de France run in eighth place with 16:11.

With the top 10 nearly 18 minutes apart and the top three more than 10 minutes apart, it is safe to say that a rough sketch of the final standings for the 2023 Tour de France is in sight.

Yellow jersey / maillot jaune - worn by the overall leader who finishes the stage with the lowest cumulative time.

Green Jersey - The green jersey is a points award. Points are awarded for one of the two intermediate sprints during the stage and for the stage finish, and the rider with the most points leads the ranking.

Polka Dot Jersey - The red and white polka dot jersey is the mountain prize. During the Tour de France, points are awarded to the first rider over certain hills and climbs, and the most difficult the mountain, the more points are awarded. Once again, the rider with the most points leads the ranking.

White Jersey - The white jersey is the highest classification for young riders. It works in the same way as the yellow jersey, but only riders under the age of 25 can win it.
