After sending a skeleton team to the 2022 Road World Championships in Wollongong, New Zealand is back in the hunt for the rainbow jersey in 2023. On August 6, the country will send six members of its men's elite team to the 271-km road race at the Glasgow World Championships.

In addition, two riders have been added to the U23/elite women's 36.2km time trial on Thursday, August 10, and the men's 47.8km elite time trial on Friday, August 11.

The 2023 Games will be a combined event encompassing 13 UCI Cycling World Championships, and George Bennett will once again wear the silver fern for the first time since the 2020 Games.UAE Team Emirates climbers Patrick Bevin, Ryan Christensen, New Zealand champion James Oram, 21-year-old Choreau Pays de la Loire winner Laurence Pitti, and Corbin Strong, who joins the team from his first Tour de France attempt. In the elite athletes and U23 women's road race, the U23 rainbow jersey will be awarded to the first athlete under the age of 23. 2022 U23 winner Fisher Black, who is no longer in the category in which she won the world title, will earn the rainbow jersey She finished 12th overall to win the rainbow jersey, and her results in the women's WorldTour, including a stage win at the Tour de Suisse in June, have revealed just how competitive she is in the top class.

And while some countries do not include riders in that age group in their total elite/U23 quota, New Zealand women's cycling is brimming with young talent, with an average age of 22 on the team for the August 13 race.

Lining up for the 154.1 km U23/elite women's event, which will finish on Glasgow's city circuit with Fisher Black and Willie, are Kim Cazzow, Mikayla Harvey, Ella Harris, and Allie Wollaston. Willie, Cazzow, and Wollaston were all born after 2000.

Lewis Bower, Logan Currie, and Jack Drage will compete in the 168 km men's U23 road race on Saturday, August 12. Currie, the Oceania champion in this event, will also compete in the 36.2 km U23 men's time trial on Wednesday, August 9. He is coming off a fourth-place finish in the event in Wollongong.
