Wout van Aert will kick off his cyclocross campaign later this month with a mix of winter races and Jumbo-Visma training camps in preparation for the World Championships in Hoogerheide on February 5.

Van Aart will confirm his full cyclocross schedule on Thursday, but several Flemish newspapers claim to know details of his plans.

Van Aert was expected to clash with Mathieu van der Poel and current world champion Tom Pidcock in the Hulst World Cup round on November 27. However, according to Het Laastse Nieuws and Het Nieuwsblad, he will run the X2O Trofee Kortrijk-Urban Cross on Saturday, November 26, avoiding a direct confrontation with the big guns in his season debut.

According to Het Laastse Nieuws (opens in new tab), Van Aert will travel to Dublin for a World Cup race on December 11, then join his Jumbo Visma teammates for a training camp in Spain in late December.

The New Year's Eve and New Year's Day races include the UCI World Cup Gavel on December 26, the Heusden Zolder and Deegem Superprestige on December 27 and 28, and the Ixact Cross Lowenhout-Azencross on December 30.

After the New Year, the X2O Trophy Herentals kicks off 2023 on January 3, followed by the series' Koksijde round on January 5 and the UCI World Cup Sonnhofen on January 8. In just 14 days, the riders will compete in seven races.

Juan Art will compete in the Belgian Championships in Lokeren on January 15, and will make his final tune-up for the World Championships at the World Cup in Benidorm, Spain, on January 22. This year's World Championships will be held on February 5 in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands, where he will be aiming for his fourth rainbow jersey.

The event will mark the end of Van Aat's cross campaign, after which he will focus on the road, with the Cobblestone Classic being his major goal for 2023, along with Jumbo Visma.

He is expected to make his road racing debut at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday, February 25, as he did this year when he won the solo attack. Van Aert won the E3 Classic but missed the Tour of Flanders with COVID-19.

It remains to be seen how the 28-year-old will structure his season, but he is expected to target major classics before returning to the Tour de France, where he has won three stages in each of the last two editions.
