I don't think I'll ever do it again," Filippo Ganna says of his hour of agony.

Filippo Ganna made history on Saturday evening by breaking not only the UCI Hour Record, but also the technically unrestricted Human Best Effort set by Chris Boardman, covering 56.792 km in one hour.

"I don't think I'll ever do it again," Ganna said in an interview after his successful Hour Record attempt. If I run in the future, before I retire like Wiggins did, that would be the time."

Regarding his mindset during the challenge, Ganna said he had a calm and collected start and a painful finale.

"I wasn't thinking about anything at the start," he said. I just followed the normal protocol of getting into position and following the line."

The attempt went well, and Ganna began to dream of breaking 57km. After 35 minutes, I thought I might be able to run 57 kilometers," he said. But then I started suffering so much because of the position of my testicles."

"I was so happy," he said.

Ganna said the turning point came in the last 10 or 15 minutes when it became difficult to hold his position and his legs began to saturate with pain. From that point on, Ganna became more focused on finishing and breaking the record than on stretching to the 57-km mark. He set his sights on "not losing time."

Ganna praised his team several times in post-race interviews, but it was more than lip service; the planning and investment in this challenge by the team and Dan Bigum was substantial. In an interview with Cycling News last week, Biggum, who held the record for 55.548 km until Ganna's run, discussed his mastermind-like plan to break his own record.

The cost of Ganna's bike and equipment alone, as well as the planning and preparation, far exceeded 75,000 euros.

With this preparation and investment in mind, Ganna was skeptical about whether one of the current young superstars of the Grand Tour, from Remco Evenpole to Jonas Vingegaard, could break his record.

"I'd be happy if they did, but ...... But I think I have the best team to accomplish this," Ganna said. 'If they join the team, it could be a challenge.'

Ganna also emphasized that different teams have very specific priorities that could interfere with such individual goals, which could prove difficult to mix track and road. I think Ineos did a great job of sticking to what I wanted to do," he said. I don't think this result was due to my legs or my performance, but to the effort of Team Ineos."

On his plans to compete in the UCI Track World Championships straight after setting the hour record, Ganna said.

However, for Ganna, competing in the World Championships was a sign of gratitude to the team that helped him set the hour record. He said, "I think competing in the World Championships is the best thank you I can give."
