Chris Froome (Team Ineos) has resumed training for the first time since his crash at the Criterium du Dauphiné in June.
Chris Froome, a four-time Tour de France champion, had been off the bike since crashing on a downhill while scouting the time trial course during the race. He broke his femur, elbow, vertebrae, and sternum, and lost four pints of blood, forcing him to miss the Tour de France.
Froom, who was already riding on an indoor trainer, rode his bike outdoors for the first time in more than two months on Thursday. He did two laps of the local velodrome, but confirmed on Twitter that he would not be able to race on the road.
A fan posted a video on Twitter showing Froome talking about his crash at the track.
While Froome was away from the race, he took over the overall win at the 2011 Vuelta a España after Juan José Cobo was found guilty of anti-doping rule violations based on abnormalities in his biological passport from 2009 to 2011.
In July, Froome revealed that the end point of his rehabilitation is the 2020 Tour de France and a fifth title. He revealed that his comeback is ahead of schedule, saying that he is "ahead of the projections that were originally made about how long it would take to get to this point."
He also said that he is "very happy with the progress I've made.
