Belgian prosecutors have sought fines and six months in prison for both former players in a case in which Alexandre Vinokourov allegedly bribed Alexandre Kolobnev during the 2010 Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
According to L'Equipe, prosecutors in the case also seek a fine of €100,000 for Vinokourov and €50,000 for Kolobnev, as well as the confiscation of €150,000 from Kolobnev's bank account.
The allegations began in 2011 when the Swiss magazine L'Illustré reported that Kolobnev had received compensation from Vinokurov and published an email exchange between the two athletes after the race. Both athletes have denied the accusations.
Kolobnev retired after the 2016 season, and Vinokurov retired shortly after the 2012 Clasica San Sebastian.
Vinokurov was banned after testing positive for blood doping at the 2007 Tour de France, but despite initially saying he would retire, he resumed his career in 2009, winning a stage at the 2010 Tour, as well as the Liege and Olympic road races.
A final ruling on the case will be announced on October 8.
