Rohan Dennis (AUS) won the elite men's time trial at the UCI Road World Championships on Wednesday in a pivotal moment.

Australia's Dennis responded to much criticism after his controversial abstention from July's Tour de France, decimating the field to defend his 2018 title.

Dennis defeated stars Remco Evenpor (Belgium) and Filippo Ganna (Italy).
