Seneschal collides with Valscheid in Munsterland crash

The finale of the Sparkassen-Munsterland Giro was spoiled by a crash in the last 200 meters and a tussle in the post-race interviews.

Florian Senechal, the lead-out man on race winner Alvaro Hodeg's last Detunink-Quick Step, blamed Sunweb's Max Warscheid for the crash, while he was being interviewed by a German broadcaster on live TV He apparently punched someone in the helmet.

An overhead shot shows Warscheid passing on the left side as Seneschal looks over his right shoulder after Hodeg begins his sprint.

Seneschal overlaps his front wheel with Warscheid's rear tire and crashes.

Warscheid was assaulted by Seneschal and retaliated with a punch of his own before Seneschal was pulled away by his teammate.

Senechal later apologized to the German Sunweb player on social media.

"I sincerely apologize to @MaxWalscheid, @TeamSunweb, the team, and the fans," the French rider wrote on Twitter. 'What I did after the race was completely unacceptable and does not represent who I am. I am truly sorry."

Deceuninck-QuickStep added that the rider would be "dealt with internally" by a fine, with proceeds going to charity.
