Detunink Quickstep Concludes 2019 Belgian Campaign with Banche-Chimay-Banche

Deceuninck-QuickStep will finish its 2019 Belgian campaign in Binche-Chimay-Binche on Saturday, but Colombian sprinter Alvaro Hodeg, injured in a crash in the final of the Tour de Euro-Metropole on October 5 will do so without.

Hodeg, who won his 66th race of the season for Dečuninck-Quick-Step at the Sparkassen-Münsterland Giro in Germany earlier this month and was looking for his team's 67th win at the Eurometropole, suffered a fractured left forearm, a broken right shoulder and two broken ribs.

Binche-Cimay-Binche would have been a good race for the Colombian, but the 198.6-km one-day race is also an opportune one. Sprinter Danny Van Poppel won Lotto NL-Jumbo in 2018, and other past winners include Jasper du Baiste, Arnaud Demar, Ramon Schinkeldam, and Zdenek Stybar.

Hodeg will miss the race, but Deceuninck-QuickStep has 2018 runner-up Yves Lampaert, with Tim Declercq, Mikkel Honoré, Iljo Keisse, Florian Sénéchal, Pieter Serry, and Petr Vakoc.

"We will be racing again, as always, aggressively and with the feeling we have when it counts," said sport director Klaas Lodewijk. 'We're thinking of Florian, who has proven he has good form in the last few races, and Yves, who came close to winning in 2018.'

"We are ready to give our best and really motivated to get a good result for Alvaro, who is unable to participate in this race after his crash at Euro Metropole," said Lodewijk.
