Two of the major cyclocross series have announced that they will equalize prize money for men and women for all races in the 2019-20 season, organizers of the DVV Trofee series and Telenet Superprestige series announced separately this week.

The move follows a growing trend toward equality in cycling, with several road races offering equal prize money in recent years: the UCI Road World Championships (since 2012), Tour of California, Tour Down Under, Tour of Britain /Women's Tour, Tour de Yorkshire, and RideLondon Classic/Classique have made this move.

On Wednesday, the organizers of the DVV Trophy announced the move on the series' website, stating: "Starting this season, the DVV Verzekeringen Trofee will allow women to win the same prize money as men. In this way, the DVV Trophy will meet the UCI's intentions and take another step forward."

The DVV Trophy will also be available for women to compete in the DVV Verzekeringen Trofee.

The governing body of cycling had asked organizers to equalize prize money for riders on the podium, but this season the DVV Trophy will be awarded to the 15th place finisher. The top three finishers at the end of the season will receive €25,000, €15,000, and €10,000 respectively, while the top 15 finishers will get €500.

On Friday, the organizers of the Super Prestige Series announced that the same amount of prize money will be awarded to the 8th place finisher. The tournament winner will receive 30,000 euros and the 8th place finisher will receive 1,000 euros.

Meanwhile, the UCI aims to equalize prize money for the Telenet UCI World Cup Series: for the 2019-20 season, the top four finishers will receive equal prize money, but the total prize money for men will be €39,500 while the total prize money for women will be €20,100.

The prize money on offer will increase starting next season, and for the 2021-22 cyclocross season, the World Cup races will feature equivalent prize money and a junior women's category; the UCI Cyclocross World Championships already awards equal prize money to podium finishers.

The Telenet Superprestige kicks off this Sunday in Gieten, while the DVV Trofee kicks off on November 1 in Koppenbergcross The UCI World Cup has already kicked off with a race in the US last month, and on October 20 in Bern, Switzerland It will be held again.
