Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) will compete in the final race of the Women's World Tour, the Tour of Guangxi, on Tuesday.
"It's going to be a very challenging race with a lot of elevation gain, an important race for CCC-Liv, and we're looking forward to the race. On the one hand, because we want to show our team to the Asian cycling fans, and on the other hand because the classifications for the UCI Women's World Tour have not yet been decided," sport director Jeroen Brilevens said in a team press release.
The Women's WorldTour series is currently led by Annemiek van Vleuten (Mitchelton-Scott), who is only five points behind Vos and 170 points behind third place Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg). Neither Van Hulten nor Wiebes is expected to compete in the Tour of Guangxi.
The winner of the one-day race will receive 200 points, which will ultimately determine the overall winner of the 2019 Women's World Tour.
"I would be happy to take the jersey with Marianne Vos in front of an Asian crowd," Blylevens said.
"I'll be happy to take the jersey with Marianne Vos in front of the Asian crowd," Blylevens said. Marianne Vos is doing well and is going for it, and Ashley Moolman-Pasio is also in great shape.""I'd love to be there," she said.
The women's race is 146 km, starting and finishing in Guilin. The route is mainly flat, but has two back-to-back climbs, the second of which peaks at the 104 km mark, followed by a descent and 30 km of flat to the finish.
Vos won the Trofeo Alfredo Binda, Tour de Yorkshire, four stages of the Giro Rosa, La Course by Le Tour de France, Ladies Tour of Norway, and Tour de l'Ardèche.
CCC-Liv will support Vos, along with riders Valerie Demy, Jeanne Correval, Ashley Moolman-Pasio, Pauliena Reuhackers, and Marta Lach.
