Astana has announced the re-signing of 23-year-old Evgeny Gidic. Gidic will be spending his third year with the Kazakh World Tour team following the success of the past two seasons.
Gidic joined Astana in 2018 from Continental feeder team Vino Astana Motors. In his first season with the WorldTour team, he finished third overall at the Tour of Croatia in April, where he was named best young rider, and took a stage win at the CRO race in Croatia earlier this month.
"My two years in Astana were very interesting and meaningful. 'It has been a very valuable experience. Not everything this season has turned out as I hoped, but there have still been some bright moments.
"Winning the Asian Cycling Championships with the Kazakhstan National Team was very impressive and it was great to end the season with a stage win in the CRO race. In the next season, we will try to do even better and win more races.
"In his first two years with our team, Evgeny had some ups and downs and not everything went perfectly, but that is normal for such a young rider. [We know his potential and believe he has a chance to become a strong pro rider in the future. Evgeny has impressed us a lot with his win at the Asian Championships and his performance at the end of the season.
