WNT-Rotor has announced that it has signed two-time European track points race champion Maria Giulia Confalonieri for the upcoming season. The 26-year-old Italian rider spent the past two seasons on the road with the Italian Valcar Cylance team.
While still looking for her first win on the road, Confalonieri finished third at the 2018 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and will be running the classics next year, doing lead-out work for the team's sprinters on the road, and for her country at the Tokyo Olympics. Preparing to compete on the track.
"From the outside, it looks like a great team, a very close-knit group," Confalonieri said in a press release.
"Throughout this season I've noticed how well the team works in the races, and I hope to be a part of that next season and be a key part of their success.
"I'm very excited," he said. I want to run well, especially in the classics, and I believe I can step up from this moment in my career with big goals with the Olympics in mind."
Confalonieri defended his 2018 title at the UEC European Track Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, last month and finished second in the event at the 2019/20 Track World Cup opener in Minsk, Belarus, earlier this month.
WNT-Rotor also recently announced the signing of European Madison Champion Julie Less, who will combine her Olympic track ambitions with a road program in 2020.
