Caleb Yuan (Lotto-Soudal) won Saturday's Shanghai criterium, catapulting him to the headlining role in ASO's exhibition show of three stage wins at this year's Tour de France.

The Australian, the most successful sprinter in this year's Tour, beat Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott) and Steven Kruijswijk (Jumbo-Visma), who finished third overall in the Tour.

Tour champion Egan Bernal (Team Ineos), wearing the yellow jersey, was active in the breakaway with Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida). Bernal won the Combat Award, while Nibali took the points lead in the intermediate sprint.

Earlier in the week, the riders engaged in the usual cultural exchange activities, such as wearing "Nakayama" suits and cooking local food.
