Elia Viviani has set his main goals for 2020 as defending his omnium title in the spring classics, Tour de France, and Olympic Games. Viviani will leave Dečuninck-Quick Step at the end of the season after deciding to move to Cofidis for 2020. He will assume a leadership role in the French team after Nasser Bouhanni failed to live up to expectations. Viviani, 30 this year, won his first Tour de France stage in Nancy and enjoyed great success in August, winning Hamburg, RideLondon, and the European Championships. Although he missed out on a stage win at the Giro d'Italia, he won the Tour Down Under, the UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico, and the Cadere Evans Great Ocean Road Race.
He also juggled a busy road season with track obligations and a racing program.
He will look to win at Milan-San Remo in March, where his only top-10 finish came in 2017.
"My first target is Milano-San Remo, and I have to redeem myself in the other spring classics. There won't be a Giro d'Italia, but the Tour is to prepare well and give 100% at the Tokyo Olympics.
