Elie Jezbert is the latest professional athlete to be injured after colliding with a car at a roundabout while training.
According to a statement from his team, Arkea Samsic, the 24-year-old Frenchman was driving on a roundabout near his home when a car driver failed to yield the right of way and hit him in the rearview mirror of his car as he passed.
Gesbert was taken to a hospital in Rennes, where he was diagnosed with a bruised hand but escaped with a broken bone. He will need to wear a secondary tree for 10 days.
Gesbert's automobile accident occurred the day after Italian Letizia Paternoster was hit by a car at a roundabout while riding her CityCycle. Trek Segafredo confirmed that the collision occurred around 9:30 AM on her familiar home road between Arco di Trento and Riva del Garda
. Paternoster fractured the navicular bone in her left wrist and broke her front teeth in this collision.
According to early reports, the driver did not stop after colliding with Gesbert, a Professional Continental level rider in different iterations of the Arkea Samsic program since 2015.
