Nasser Bouhanni is ready to run with his new team, Arkea Samsic, in 2020. After five seasons with Cofidis, the last two years have not been smooth sailing due to disagreements between the French sprinter and incoming coach Cedric Vasseur, but Bukhani is happy to start a new chapter in his career.
"I want to reflect on the past two seasons and focus on next year," Bukhani told L'Equipe magazine on Sunday.
"My main goal is to start winning again as soon as possible," said the 29-year-old, who last won a stage at the Vuelta a España at the end of 2018. After a season without a win, that is my top priority, and the start of the season will be important for my confidence and in terms of getting to know my new teammates."
"I had several contacts with other teams, but I decided on Arkea Samsic because I always had a very positive impression of (team manager) Emmanuel Hubert. I needed to evolve in a confident environment and that guided my choice. Bukhani said.
"I am confident that Nasser will be back to his best," Hubert added.
He continued, referring to Buchany's 65 career wins, including stage victories at the Vuelta, Giro d'Italia, Paris-Nice, and Criterium du Dauphiné, as well as the 2012 French road race title.
"With (sprinters) Nasser, Dan McRae, Thomas Buda, and Bram Welten, I feel well equipped to achieve beautiful things," Hubert said.
According to L'Equipe, Bouhanni will start the season with the Tour of Saudi Arabia on February 4, followed by the Tour of Oman in mid-February, and then back to Europe with the One Day Courne Brussel-Courson on March 1, and Tirreno-Adriatico Followed by.
