Caleb Yuan (Lotto Soudal), Michael Matthews (Sunweb), and Rohan Dennis in the elite men's road division, and Amanda Spratt, Lucy Kennedy, and Chloe Hosking of Mitchelton Scott and Yale Cipollini in the elite women's road division, face off for the title of Australian Cyclist of the Year.
Many of the other winners in road and track, MTB, BMX, and paracycling will also be announced at the 2019 Cyclist of the Year Awards in Brisbane on December 16. The awards ceremony will take place after the Brisbane round of the UCI Track World Cup, held at the Anna Meares Velodrome from December 13-15.
Euan first competed in the Tour de France in 2019, where he won three stages, as well as two stage wins at the Giro d'Italia. His 10 wins in the 2019 season with his new team, Lotto Soudal, include stage wins at the UAE Tour and Tour of Turkey.
Rohan Dennis had mixed fortunes this season, winning a stage and finishing second overall at the Tour de Suisse and successfully defending his World Championship time trial title at the end of the year as part of the Australian national team. However, Matthews left the Bahrain-Merida team midway through the Tour de France due to disagreements over team equipment and clothing, and it has not yet been announced which trade team he will ride for in 2020.
Matthews won two stages at the Volta a Catalunya this year and successfully defended his title at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec World Tour in Canada.
In the elite women's road category, Spratt again enjoyed great success, finishing on the podium at the World Championships road race for the second year in a row.
Kennedy took a huge leap forward in her career, winning the final stage and the overall at the Women's Herald Sun Tour in February, and winning the Durango Durango Emacmen Sarria and Donostia San Sebastian Classicoa one-day races in Spain.
Hoskin again enjoyed great success, winning stages in both the Tour Down Under and the Herald Sun Tour prior to a European campaign that included stage wins in the Giro Toscana Feminaire and the Madrid Challenge, and a one-day Tour of Guanxi in China He closed out the season with a win at the
Hosking will move to Rally UHC in the US in 2020.
