Nils Pollitt to Join Israel Cycling Academy in 2020

Paris-Roubaix runner-up Nils Pollitt will move to the Israeli Cycling Academy with a World Tour license for Katusha Alpecin for the 2020 season.

The Israeli team bought Katusha's management company from Russian oligarch Igor Makarov in October and took over Pollitt's contract through 2020.

Pollitt has an alternative plan if he is not retained by the new regime, telling Cycling News in September, "I have a plan B, but I don't want to talk about it. First, I want a clear answer as to whether I have to stay."

Pollitt, who finished second behind Philippe Gilbert in Paris-Roubaix and fifth in the Tour of Flanders, will be an important part of the new WorldTour organization's classics team.

The 25-year-old German Barrude will move from the Katusha team along with Mads Wurz Schmidt, Rick Zabel, Dani Navarro, Jente Biermans, Alex Dowsett, and Reto Horenstein.

Since the transfer market opened on August 1, the Israel Cycling Academy has worked to strengthen its roster by acquiring a number of high-profile players and combining them with those signed by Katusha Alpecin.

Daniel Martin joined from UAE team Emirates, while Andre Greipel moved out of his contract with Arkea earlier this year. Several riders have moved on, including Harry Tanfield, and a young English rider has found a place at AG2R La Mondiale.
