Marianne Vos will launch her 2019/20 cyclocross campaign at the Brico Cross in Essen, Belgium, on December 7, her CCC-Liv team announced.

Vos, who last winter ran her first full cyclocross season in three years and won her first career World Cup overall title, will return to a reduced program for the 2019/20 season. Nevertheless, it is no small task, with seven races on the provisional program from December 7 to February 2 next year.

These include the World Cup in Namur, Belgium, on December 22, the World Cup in Heusden-Zolder, also in Belgium, on Boxing Day, and the final race of the series on January 26 in her home town of Hoogerheide, Netherlands. Her program will culminate at the World Championships in Dübendorf, Switzerland, in early February.

The former world champion, who won the 2018/19 World Cup, took the overall Women's WorldTour road title this season.

"I chose to rest after the road season and take some time off to prepare for cyclocross, which resulted in a somewhat shorter 'cross season," Vos explained on her CCC-Liv team website.

"Given the favorable starting position, it may not be ideal, but I accept it," she added.

"More races are planned, especially after the training camp with CCC-Liv (December 9-19).

These include the Brussels GP of the DVV Trophy on January 5 and the Dutch National Championships in Lucfen a week later.

Vos finished third at the 2019 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Bogense, Denmark, behind Belgium's Sanne Canto and Vos' Dutch compatriot Lucinda Brand. Depending on how this winter's 'cross campaign goes, Vos could be among the favorites to win the February 2 event in Dübendorf, where she could be looking for her eighth career elite cyclocross world title.
