Caleb Yuan and Amanda Spratt named Cyclist of the Year

Caleb Yuan (Lotto Soudal) and Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton Scott) were honored as Cyclists of the Year at Cycling Australia's annual awards ceremony in Brisbane on Monday.

Euan was awarded the Sir Hubert 'Oppy' Opperman Medal as Cyclist of the Year for his 2019 season, which included three stage wins at the Tour de France, two stage wins at the Giro d'Italia, and 22 podiums.

"It is a great honor for me to receive this award. It's the biggest award you can get as a cyclist in Australia," said Euan, who attended the awards ceremony via video link from the Lotto Soudal team training camp in Majorca. [Rohan Dennis was crowned World Champion in the time trial again this year, and many cyclists achieved great results.

"I want to thank my team, coaches, and family from the bottom of my heart for their support this year. Without them, I could not have achieved these results or won this award."

Spratt was named Elite Female Road Cyclist of the Year for the second year in a row at the Cycling Australia Dinner.

"Honored to be named Female Road Cyclist of the Year at the Cycling Australia Awards," Spratt posted on Twitter.

"My family, my partner, my coaches Jean Bates and Mitchelton Scott, the Australian Cycling Team, NSWIS, and my amazing teammates.

Her 2019 successes include a bronze medal at the UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire, third overall at the Giro Rosa, second overall at the Emacmen Vila, second overall at the Trofeo Alfredo Binda, and overall victory at the Santos Women's Tour Down Under

Ashley Ankudinov and Sam Welsford also won the Elite Track Cyclist of the Year award.

The Marsh Australian Cycling Moment of the Year went to road race champion Sarah Gigante, the youngest winner of the elite road national competition. Gigante also won the Under 23 Cyclist of the Year award.

Paige Greco was named Para Women's Track Cyclist of the Year, Alistair Donohoe was named Para Men's Track Cyclist of the Year, and Carol Cook and Darren Hicks were named Para Road Cyclists of the Year.

2000 Sydney Olympic Madison gold medalists Brett Aitken and Scott McGrory, Olympian and world champion Kate Bates, and Australia's first world champion Bob Spiers were inducted into the Cycling Australia Hall of Fame.
