Team Ineos Announces Partnership with Mercedes F1 Team

Team Ineos has announced a partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula 1 team to rival its partnership with McLaren in Bahrain.

Under the agreement, the two teams will work together to develop and implement innovations in areas such as engineering, human sciences, simulation, and data analysis. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport will also work with sailing team Ineos Team UK, which will compete in the upcoming America's Cup.

McLaren is controlled by Mumtalakat, a Bahraini sovereign wealth fund, which has a 50 percent stake in the World Tour cycling team to bolster its budget and its chances of success in the Tour de France. McLaren owns the McLaren F1 racing team, the sports car brand, and the applied sciences brand, which help improve performance in a variety of areas, including the cycling team. Bahrain McLaren has hired Rod Ellingworth, former head of performance for Team Ineos, as team manager.

The collaboration between Team Ineos and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport aims to do the same, raising the stakes in the battle to become the strongest superteam in professional cycling.

Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport is a German team, but based in Brackley in central England. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport has won the drivers' and constructors' championships, led by British driver Lewis Hamilton. Team Ineos won the Tour de France with Egan Bernal after taking over sponsorship of the team from Sky in 2019.

In a carefully crafted announcement, Team Ineos explained that all three teams will work together through the Mercedes-Benz Applied Science (MBAS) group, which was created "to combine the pioneering spirit of racing with the best insights from science and technology." The group was established to "combine the pioneering spirit of racing with the best insights from science and technology" and focuses on aerodynamics and key component manufacturing capabilities.

"The collaboration is based on three fundamental principles. A shared belief that there should be no limits to what is possible in human performance; a desire for all three partners to benefit from each team's shared culture of excellence and winning; and the belief that the best technical support allows great athletes to create the best racing moments It's a belief that we can create," Team Ineos asserts.

"Underlying these three great teams is a shared passion for racing, for winning, and for creating great sporting moments. Our relentless determination to go faster, sail faster, pedal faster, and beat the ever-evolving competition will benefit greatly from this partnership," said team manager Dave Brailsford. By combining our collective knowledge in science, technology, human performance, and race strategy, we can create an even stronger winning environment.

"It's very exciting to be working with the best team in F1, Mercedes, and all the great people who have been so successful in other sports, and we can't wait to get started and grow together.

Team INEOS has identified areas of potential performance improvement, allocated resources from the Mercedes-Benz Applied Science design and engineering team, and is working with the INEOS cycling and sailing teams to identify engineers and He stated that a technical steering committee would be established to incorporate specialists.

"The technical requirements of Formula 1 mean that it is well suited to support advanced technical challenges in specific areas of sailing and cycling, with particular emphasis on aerodynamics and key component manufacturing capabilities," Toto Wolff explained. When Sir Jim Ratcliffe approached us with the concept of combining three organizations with outstanding track records and high ambitions for the future, we immediately saw an opportunity to grow and diversify the business. And we were able to learn from some of the most successful teams in world sports.
