Prologo is revamping its saddle lineup for 2020, with the new Scratch M5 and M5 PAS and the new Dimension Tri saddle at the top of the lineup.
Scratch, which has long topped the Prologo lineup, has been significantly revamped with a shorter nose and multi-section padding. The Dimension Tri, on the other hand, is a new addition to the product line and features perineal channels and a shorter, wider nose.
Next season, a number of professional teams will be using the brand's saddles, including Astana, Bahrain McLaren, EF Education First, Groupama-FDJ, UAE Team Emirates, and a number of pro continental and women's professional teams.
The new unisex Scratch M5 and M5 PAS (Perineal Area System) are 30 mm shorter in length for 2020, in line with the short-nose trend that has spread through the saddle industry in recent years. Shorter saddles reduce pressure on soft tissues during pedaling, and the M5 with its 250 mm overall length certainly meets that trend.
Another feature is the MSS (Multi-Sector System), designed in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, in which the saddle pad is divided into sections, with each section having a different pad density. This system is designed to flexibly accommodate the rider's movement, and the company claims that it adapts to the rider's various positions and pedaling push/pull motions.
The standard M5 features a soft center section, in contrast to the carbon bottom of the rest of the saddle. The M5 PAS, on the other hand, is differentiated by its cut-out center section, which further alleviates the soft tissue.
Both versions of the saddle weigh in at a lower 155 g for the Scratch M5 NaCK (nano carbon fiber and Kevlar rails) and 189 g for the Scratch M5 TiroX (alloy steel rails). On the other hand, the Scratch M5 PAS NaCK weighs only 129g and the Scratch M5 PAS TiroX weighs 185g.
An entirely new addition to the Prologo product line, the Dimension Tri, as its name suggests, targets triathletes and time triallists.
In contrast to the "T" shape of the M5, the Dimension Tri features an ergonomic "V" shape that, when combined with the PAS channel, reduces the burden on those who lean forward in the time trial position.
Based on the existing Dimension saddle, the Dimension Tri moves the seat area forward 20 mm to accommodate forward lean and the nose is 7 mm wider to provide additional support.
Dimension Tri does not feature MSS, but instead uses Prologo's patented Connect Power Control (CPC) technology. This technology is claimed to increase grip and vibration absorption as well as ventilation, allowing heat and sweat to escape.
The Dimension Tri NaCK CPC weighs 191g, while the TiroX version weighs 223g, while the saddle without CPC weighs 181g for the NaCK version and 212g for the TiroX model.
