Neff was treated at a nearby hospital in Asheville, North Carolina, and released after three nights.
To stop the internal bleeding in his spleen, Neff's emergency medical team used a technique called embolization to avoid the need to remove his spleen.
It is unclear what these injuries will mean for Neff's cross-country season and her bid for the Tokyo Olympics next summer.
Neff was scheduled to compete in the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Doubendorf, Switzerland, on February 1.
