Mark Cavendish unveils first Bahrain McLaren kit

Mark Cavendish unveiled the new Bahrain McLaren team kit for the first time.

The bright orange and yellow jersey is a far cry from the plain green and white jersey Cavendish wore when he was with Dimension Data. He had been riding for Dimension Data since 2016, but parted ways when the team removed him from the 2019 Tour de France roster.

Cavendish recently attended the team's official presentation and training camp on the Croatian island of Hvar after signing a one-year contract. Cavendish's arrival is a major move for the team, which has just brought Vincenzo Nibali to Trek Segafredo and time trial world champion Rohan Dennis to Team Ineos.

Cavendish has struggled with the Epstein-Barr virus the past two seasons, winning one race each in 2017 and 2018 and none last year. He joined McLaren, the Italian-based, Bahrain-owned Formula One team, to boost the team's technical efforts. The 34-year-old, who has 146 UCI wins in his professional career and is just behind Eddy Merckx in Tour de France stage wins, has yet to announce where he will start the 2020 season.
