Four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome (Team Ineos) posted on social media in response to reports that he had returned early from a training camp in Spain, saying that the last training camp he attended actually took place in early December and not recently.
Froome posted on Twitter Sunday evening: "Last attended training camp in early December. Recovery is going well and heading to next training camp on Thursday. Previous"
Dario Cioni, sport director of Team Ineos, was reportedly concerned about Froome's recovery from his big crash at last year's Criterium du Dauphiné.
"After two days of training in Spain, Froome returned home looking for his fifth yellow jersey. He is not in good shape and no one knows if he will recover." Cioni reportedly said.
The quotes in the Italian media ("Bicisport" and "SpazioCiclismo.com") were widely reported and were thought to be recent, but actually refer to the Team Ineos training camp in Mallorca, Spain, in early December to which Froome was referring It appears that he is referring to.
The destination of Froome's training camp this week is still unknown, as is whether the 34-year-old will attempt his first race in 2020.
