Caleb Yuan to Lead Strong Team of Lotto Soudal at Tour Down Under

Caleb Yuan will lead a very strong seven-man Lotto Soudal team in the 2020 Tour Down Under, which begins January 19 in Adelaide, Australia.

Ewan was relegated from first to last place in the lead group on stage 5 of the 2019 event after he was judged to have used his head to push UAE Team Emirates sprinter Yasper Philipsen off the wheel of Bora-Hansgrohe's Peter Sagan.

Ewan was the first to cross the Strathalbyn line ahead of Philipsen and Sagan, but after a lengthy deliberation by the race judges, Philipsen was handed the stage win (his first World Tour win).

The 25-year-old Ewan can rely on a very solid and experienced Lotto Soudal team in 2020 and will look to make up for his lack of wins in 2019, when he has won stages in the last three Tours Down Under.

His team includes breakaway specialist Thomas De Gendt and leadout specialist Roger Kluge, two riders who were in the same team when Ewan won three stages in his debut Tour de France last July, as well as compatriot and longtime campaigner Adam Hansen, experienced sprinter Tosh Van Der Sande, and two British riders, former Team Sky rider John Dibben and World Tour debutant Matt Holmes, who joined from the British national team, Madison Genesis. riders can also be counted on.

"This is my home race and of course I'm very motivated," Ewan said in a press release. He's already won seven Santos Tour Down Under races, but last season he missed out on a stage win. This year I want to get back on the podium.

"I have the form and speed to win, but a lot depends on tactics, other situations, and other sprinters. I'll be ready for anything. ...... I can't wait for the season to start."
