New Zealand Track Members to Participate in Women's Tour Down Under Announced

Led by four-time national road race champion Lashley Buchanan, six New Zealand national endurance track athletes will participate in this year's Women's Tour Down Under. [Cycling NZ Women's Endurance Assistant Coach Alex Greenfield, citing the Tokyo Olympics, said, "This is a rare opportunity for young athletes to experience stage racing with world-class athletes and teams outside Europe."

Buchanan is a four-time national road race champion and also won the national time trial title in 2016. Her former road teams include American Team Tibco and UnitedHealthcare, and the experienced 31-year-old will lead a mix of youth and experience on the South Australian roads from January 16-19.

The Vantage Cycling New Zealand team will be joined by fellow 2018 Commonwealth Games Team Pursuit silver medalists Raquel Sias and Bryony Botha, along with 20-year-old Nicole Shields and current junior individual Pursuit world champion and national Junior Road Race Champion Allie Wollaston complete the six-athlete lineup.
