Boels Dolmans has welcomed former USA Cycling Women's Endurance Program Manager Jack Seehafer as assistant director. The longtime American director will work alongside team director Danny Stam during the 2020 season.
"My role is to assist Danny as second team (director). My role is to assist Danny as second team (director)," Seehafer said in a team press release.
." I especially look forward to seeing the athletes perform to the best of their ability in every race with the ultimate goal of a beautiful victory and success at the Tokyo Olympics."
Seehafer has worked in the cycling industry for the past 12 years and has experience as a UCI-certified team director for men's and women's professional cycling teams.
He joins Boels Dolmans after five years (2013-2018) as women's endurance program manager at USA Cycling, where he was responsible for the junior and elite programs.
Boels Dolmans has been the #1 ranked team in the world for the past five seasons with former world champion and Olympic road race gold medalist Anna van der Breggen.
Their application to become a top-level world team in 2020 was rejected because they could not guarantee sponsorship for four years. The co-title sponsor will end its financial support for the team at the end of this year, but Stamm is confident that they will find a replacement title sponsor for the future.
Despite being Continental's second-best team, Boels-Dolmans will continue to be a dominant force on the world stage of women's bicycle racing. Seehafer is poised to lead the team to victory.
"The biggest challenge lies in our goal to win everywhere, individually and above all as a team," Seehafer said.
"In an Olympic year, you see the level around you improve even more than in non-Olympic years. As a team, and as the best team in the world, we carry more pressure and race with greater goals. For that reason, this year's victory is even more valuable than in previous years."
