Marianne Bos successfully underwent surgery and was discharged from the hospital.

Marianne Vos underwent surgery Thursday to correct a nodule in an artery in her groin and was released from the hospital without incident. The multiple world champion underwent the surgery in consultation with the CCC-Liv team and will require a six-week recovery period before beginning preparations for the 2020 road season.

"The surgery went well. I left the hospital with a smile and flowers," Voss reported on his social media channels on Friday. 'Feeling good, no pain. I can now begin rehabilitation carefully and gradually. I look forward to working towards my goals later this year."

Vos announced that he will end the cyclocross season early, straight after finishing fifth in the Dutch cyclocross championships last Sunday. In a statement posted on the team's website, she revealed that she had been suffering from a nodule in her groin artery for some time. However, after consulting with her doctors, she decided to undergo surgery to resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Voss will need six weeks to recover, which will put an end to her cyclocross season. She will not compete in the next two World Cup races in Normey and Vogelheide, as well as the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Switzerland in February.

Her plan is to recover within six weeks and begin preparing for the road racing season with CCC-Liv and the Dutch national team for selection events such as the Tokyo Olympics in July and the UCI Road World Championships in Switzerland in September.

"If all goes according to plan, I will be fit again six weeks after the surgery," Vos said in a statement prior to the surgery, which was scheduled for last week.

"I am working with my team on the recovery process to achieve our goals during the road season. However, the success of the surgery is our top priority right now."

Vos said in a statement.

Voss had one of her most successful road seasons in 2019, ending with a total of 19 wins. Her biggest accomplishments were four stages at the Giro Rosa, three stages and the overall win at the Ladies Tour of Norway, and the Trofeo Alfredo Binda and La Course by Le Tour de France.

Vos finished the season as the winner of the 2019 Women's World Tour.
