Team Ineos announced the signing of triathlete Cameron Waugh.
The move follows the retirement of Vasil Kiryienka due to a recurrence of a heart condition, leaving an opening on the British team's roster. Wolff, who was a road racer for Fuji Servette, Androni Giocattoli, and Cannondale, has competed in Ironman triathlons since leaving road racing.
Wolff, who will make his team debut at Saturday's Cadel Evans Great Road Race in Australia, has often trained with his new team since 2017. He regularly rides with Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas, and last month he circumnavigated 309 km around Majorca with the Welsh rider and several other Team Ineos riders.
The deal with Team Ineos is an evolution of what he has been doing for the past few years, Wolff added, and he will take on a domestique role during the road season.
"Over the last few years I have tried different approaches in training and racing," he said.
"This is an evolution of that approach. Since I started competing in Ironman, people have been going faster. The bike is my strongest discipline, so this move allows me to always be at the front."
"I'm focused on Kona [Ironman] in October, but before that there are opportunities to help the team when needed. I know a lot of people on the team and have trained with many of them.
"I have dreamed of being part of this team since it started. I am really excited and proud to be representing Team Ineos."
He finished second overall in the 2012 Tour of Lake Chintay and the 2014 Herald Sun Tour. He has also finished twice in the Giro d'Italia and once in the Vuelta a EspaƱa.
Tim Kerrison, head coach of Team Ineos, has worked with Wurf since 2017, coaching him to improve his results at the Ironman World Championships during that time; Wurf improved every year, finishing 17th in 2017, 9th in 2018, and 5th last year.
He will race again this season, focusing on Team Ineos for the first half of the season before switching to focus on the Ironman World Championships in October.
"Cameron joins the team to continue pursuing his Ironman career. His physical strength combined with his versatility on the bike, flexible schedule, and experience racing at the World Tour level make this an interesting and unique proposition for both the team and Cameron," said Kerrison.
"Early in the season, he will always be ready and available to race as needed. Meanwhile, in the months leading up to Kona, his focus will return to Ironman, where he will be fully supported by the team and will be looking to improve on last year's fifth place finish.
"For the past three years he has been supported by many of our main sponsors, including Pinarello, Casc, Castelli and Fizik, and often trains with our riders. He has developed into one of the best performing and most consistent Ironman triathletes in the world."
