The 38th Vuelta a San Juan, the second major stage race of the season, has begun. CyclingNews will bring you news, interviews, and reports from Argentina's professional peloton throughout the week. On Friday's fifth stage, riders will tackle the race's main GC stage, the Alto Colorado high-altitude summit finish. Remco Evenpole (Deceuninck-QuickStep) has a 32-second lead, but Guillaume Martin (Cofidis), Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates), and Spanish veteran Oscar Sevilla (Team Medellin) are Under pressure.

Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates) has won two sprint finishes so far, while Rudy Barbier (Israel Startup Nation) won the opening stage. On stage 3, Evenpoel grabbed victory in the 15km time trial with an impressive ride that put him 32 seconds ahead of Italian TT champion Filippo Ganna (Team Ineos).

Meanwhile, stages 6 and 7 ended in a group sprint and will be Peter Sagan's (Bora-Hansgrohe) chance to get on the 2020 scoreboard.

Live streaming coverage will begin just before the stage start and continue through post-race interviews and the podium, with television coverage beginning at 18:00 local time on ESPN and 19:00 on Eurosport.
