Mikel Landa was hit by a car while training on Saturday morning.
Landa was taken to the hospital for tests, but his serious injuries were ruled out and he is expected to be able to resume training in the next few days.
Landa was training with a friend near his home in Alava, in Spain's Basque Country.
"This morning I was training with a friend when a car hit me from behind and took off," Landa posted on social media along with a photo from the hospital.
"Initial tests confirmed that everything is fine. I hope to return to training soon."
Landa will start the 2020 season on February 19 at the Ruta del Sol stage race in southern Spain, his first race with his new team, Bahrain McLaren, as he aims for glory at the Tour de France in July.
According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the driver of the Renault Megane has been arrested; the 42-year-old suspect is believed to have caused another accident in Burgos a few hours earlier.
