Greipel injured his shoulder in a crash during practice and will be in recovery for three months.

Andre Greipel will miss the next three months after injuring his shoulder in a training crash that occurred today in Germany, his Israeli Startup Nation team announced Tuesday.

The accident occurred while training with Rick Zabel near Cologne. He injured his shoulder in the accident and will be sidelined for about three months.

"A car was coming towards us and we ran single file down a small road. There was water and mud on the road and somehow I went off the road and lost my balance," Greipel said. 'The front wheel slipped and I slid head and shoulders into the rocks. ...... Greipel said.

After putting his dislocated shoulder back in joint, Greipel managed to get home, praying that his injuries were minor. However, upon examination at the hospital, according to team doctor Ortwin Schaefer, Greipel had a fracture in addition to the dislocation.

A three-month layoff would mean missing the entire Classic campaign.

"It's definitely a big setback for Greipel and the team. He started the season well on the Tour Down Under and has shown he is a team leader." We've already lost two players, Rory Sutherland and Ben Hellmans, to serious injuries for a few months. So it's definitely bad news and we have to overcome it, but it's not easy."
