AbsoluteBlack has created a new oval chainring for riders using Cannondale's 2X Hollowgram cranks.
For riders who wanted a 2X chainring compatible with Hollowgram, British oval specialist AbsoluteBlack offers a non-direct mount solution.
Oval chainrings provide a more linear load on the knee throughout the pedal stroke, so many riders are moving from round to oval chainrings for joint health.
Road riders who love Cannondale's 2X Hollowgram drivetrain system had no choice but to go with spider-style oval chainrings, but now there is a beautifully machined double chainring in absolute black.
Direct-mount chainrings are popular because of their low mass and lack of bolts, but some riders prefer the ability to split and replace smaller rings on 2X drivetrains. In that case, they need a conventional spider-type 2X chainring that can be unbolted and split.
This latest AbsoluteBlack chainring is compatible with Cannondale's Hollowgram Si, SiSL, and SiSL2 cranks in a 50/34T configuration (52/36T coming soon), where the two chainrings are mechanically joined by five titanium bolts They are mechanically joined by five titanium bolts to form a single unit.
If the 34T wears out, it can be easily replaced. On the Absolute Black spider-type 2X oval, the smaller chainring can be replaced with a new one.
The new Cannondale Hollowgram compatible 50/34T oval weighs only 178g, only 3g heavier than the Absolute Black direct mount version.
Pricing is set at £214.99, and if you want a more powerful 52/36T gear option, AbsoluteBlack will soon be adding it to its Hollowgram Spider portfolio.
