Alexey Lutsenko (open in new tab) told Cycling News that he was focused on racing and had let bygones be bygones with allegations against banned doctor Michele Ferrari.
Lutsenko and his Astana (open in new tab) teammate Jakob Fuglsang were at the center of the CADF report leaked in early February.
The report was obtained by Danish and Norwegian media and eventually confirmed by CADF. However, the CADF also stated that "after careful consideration of the available elements, it has not submitted a report to the UCI for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the individual or team in question."
News of the report was quickly rebuffed by Astana, which then announced that both the athletes and the CADF would begin an investigation into how the report became public.
Astana manager Alexander Vinokurov, himself a former Ferrari customer who was banned for blood doping, welcomed the investigation into how the report was leaked. Contact with Ferrari could have resulted in a two-year ban for the players.
Lutsenko was reportedly present at the meeting with Ferrari, and the doctor also stated that the leaked report was unfounded.
Fuglsang took to Instagram in response to the allegations and categorically denied meeting with Ferrari. At the same time, Lutsenko posted the exact same message in English (a language he is not at all fluent in), stating: "I dispute that I met with Dr. Ferrari. I dispute that I met with Dr. Ferrari. I am not aware of any report and can confirm that no proceedings have been initiated against me by the competent anti-doping authorities. Therefore, I have no case to answer. I am very concerned about these rumors in the press"
.
At this week's UAE Tour, where Rusenko is currently competing in the overall class, Cyclingnews attempted to speak to the Kazakh road champion about the CADF report.
Lutsenko was asked if it was a distraction that got him into this situation, but he said he only answered the first question and would not discuss the matter further.
"I'm focused on my season and my racing. I'm focused on my season and my racing.
Rusenko made a big splash in the third stage of the UAE Tour on Tuesday, finishing third behind current race leader Adam Yates (Mitchelton Scott) and UAE Team Emirates' Tadej Pogacar.
"Yates is a special climber. 'When he attacked, I tried to respond. I'm happy with third on the stage and third on GC. I feel good. Before coming here, he did a training camp with the team in Thiede (Spain) and also took part in the Tour de la Provence.
"Now I have a good feeling here and for the classics. The third stage was really hard. The last 10km were really hard. I tried to keep up, but Yates was the best climber in the peloton."
