Mitchelton Scott Extends Virtual Ride Series Amid Coronavirus Crisis

The Mitchelton Scott team has announced 16 more events in its Virtual Ride Series, amid a series of race cancellations and cautions due to coronavirus infection.

Last week, Mitchelton Scott announced the immediate withdrawal of both the men's and women's teams from all races until at least March 22.

This decision was made in light of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, which is worsening across Europe, and Italy's decision to put the country on near lockdown in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Recreational cycling is no longer allowed in Italy, and only professional riders are allowed to train outdoors alone. The increase in the number of infected people is expected to force other major countries to take similar measures in the coming days and weeks.

Mitchelton Scott hosted the first installment of the "BikeExchange - Where the World Rides Series" on Sunday, using the popular Zwift platform, with over 1,300 participants and 30 riders.

This new event runs almost daily, allowing participants to "ride" and socialize with riders from both the men's and women's teams.

The first event was held on a Wednesday afternoon in Europe and was led by Michael Hepburn. Other events include a pro workout designed by the team's coach, Jack Hague's Mountain Goat Challenge, Georgia Williams' Pace and Race Challenge, Simon Yates' Pace and Race Challenge, and the final event scheduled for Friday the 20th, Mitchell Ton Scott mixed team's final race scheduled for Friday the 20th.

Some of the events will also be live streamed on Zwift and Mitchelton Scott's Facebook page.

Details on how to participate in all rides will be announced on the team's various social media channels in the coming days.
