Lawrence Tendam Partners with Pro for Gravel Racing Season

Lawrence ten Dam, who switched from road bikes to gravel bikes, will use pro components for gravel races in 2020. He will be racing this year in the technical Grasshopper series, the National Beachrace in the Netherlands, the American gravel classics Dirty Kanza, Leadville, and the Belgian Waffle Ride, as well as his own gravel doubleheader in the Netherlands LTD Gravel Fest and Gravel Raid, among many other important events targeted.

Pro will use stems and on-bike storage from the company's Discover series on his Tendam gravel bike, the Pro Tharsis series on his mountain bike, and the Pro Vibe series on tarmac.

Tendam will choose a saddle from the Pro Stealth series and use either the Superlight version or the Stealth off-road model. Pre-race preparation and bike maintenance will be done using professional workshop tools and accessories.

Tendam: "During my career I have been lucky enough to experience different components through different team sponsors. So I know what works and what doesn't. Now that I have the freedom to choose, I want top quality from brands I know and trust, and I also want products suitable for road, gravel, and MTB projects PRO was a natural choice."

At the end of 2019, the Dutch rider will be a Sunweb and CCC team and decided to end his 17-year career as a professional road rider with two top-10 finishes in Grand Tours, finishing eighth overall at the 2012 Vuelta a EspaƱa and ninth overall at the 2014 Tour de France. Ten Dam is now shifting his focus to the blossoming gravel and adventure racing scene; the 39-year-old is no stranger to gravel and has been racing off-road in the off-season since 2016. He is also not the only World Tour rider pursuing a more adventurous form of racing. Since his announcement, Ian Boswell and fellow pro-sponsored rider Peter Stetina have joined him on the gravel start line. Ten Damm started the 2020 season with a fifth-place finish in the Low Gap Grasshopper Adventure Series.

Since committing to the gravel scene, Ten Dam has launched the "Live Slow Ride Fast" project, a clothing company, podcast, and race team. The team consists of Ten Dam plus fellow riders and LSRF podcast regulars Stefan Bolt and Dennis Bruin, and Pro has extended its support not only to Ten Dam, but to the entire Live Slow Ride Fast team.

Alexa Cunningham, Pro Marketing Manager: "We are thrilled to launch this project with Lawrence and the Live Slow Ride Fast team. Lawrence has earned international acclaim and recognition through his professional heroics. And now his gravel program is at the forefront of an exciting and fun adventure-driven chapter with another pro ambassador, Pete Stetina. We look forward to working with Lawrence on product development, especially now that he has provided us with the perfect platform to communicate our brand message of creating a better sport bicycle experience for riders, whether gravel, road, or mountain bike."
