Trek-Segafredo teammates Richie Porte and Kenny Elissondo rode strong on the final climb to Val de Broglie-la-Cormiane, while Vincenzo Nibali finished fifth on the final Paris-Nice stage over the weekend.
"I'm happy with Paris-Nice. I'm happy with the atmosphere in the team. This is a new group and everything went very well. The whole team was united towards one goal.
"Nairo is at the peak of his form. It was very difficult to beat him," he added of Quintana, who won the final stage. He added to his stage and overall wins at the Tour de la Provence and Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var, while Max Schachmann of Beulah-Hansgrohe won the opening stage from Paris to Nice to take the overall.
With many upcoming races already postponed or cancelled, and many more expected to face similar measures, Nibali knows that Paris-Nice will be the last race that may take place in the coming weeks or months.
"We were able to complete Paris-Nice because of the very high level of attention and vigilance within the team and during the race. The tight security provided by the organization allowed us to race properly." Now all activity has stopped for cycling as a whole. We will wait to see what happens next and make the necessary assessments."
[10Trek-Segafredo sport director Steven de Jong added: "We are very pleased with the results.
"We will have a meeting with all the sport directors on Monday.
"We understand the difficulty race organizers have in making decisions at this point," de Jong said. 'We all have to be flexible. We will see what the organizers will do, and we have to respect [the measures] they have put in place. Together we will find a solution."
